BOOM, or Business Operating on Mission, was founded by Keith Toogood and Steve Hoggard on the idea that God wants to move in and through business leaders in Lubbock, Texas. Keith and Steve believe that, as Christians in business, God has not only specifically placed and called them to impact the world with the gospel, but He has also placed and called other Christian business leaders to do the same.
The purpose of BOOM is to encourage, equip, and empower Christian business leaders in the area through monthly meetings, which include a meal, fellowship, testimonies, and prayer, bi-weekly emails that offer encouraging testimonies from fellow business leaders, devotional material, and relevant ideas to engage with and reach others in your place of influence, and “huddle groups,” which are short meetings with 2-3 other business leaders designed to offer encouragement and support to one another. BOOM also has occasional events and activities for the purpose of engaging with other Christian businesses.
Steve and Keith envisioned a site that was minimalistic and professional. They were actively engaged in helping with the design process as well! The home page boasts the BOOM logo and mission statement alongside a button that allows Christian business leaders to take the pledge. There is a dropdown menu on the right hand side to allow easy access to the pledge, networking, about us, and contact pages. On the networking page, you can see the logos and a brief description of businesses who have already taken the pledge to bring the light of Christ to their workplaces. To take the pledge, all you have to do is read the pledge and commit to following it by signing up beneath.
